big thing uh when you're out here on the
0:01
water or you living off the grid is
0:05
power and uh AC power requires the
0:08
inverter which sucks up power so to
0:11
charge your phones and other devices you
0:13
I picked up something like these I have
0:15
uh uh one in the helm that's cigarette
0:18
lter size and got this one I just found
0:22
on Amazon and this is a flat one has two
0:26
USB and one USBC this nice little cover
0:30
a little uh I guess to keep the water
0:32
out I don't know if I might use that cuz
0:34
these are going to be inside may use it
0:36
and then some screws to screw it down I
0:39
don't know if I want to screw it down or
0:40
just glue it down but when I get there
0:42
I'll get there but uh I'm going to run
0:45
it basically over in the salon but uh
0:49
since I disconnected all this propane
0:51
stuff yeah that's my uh nice little
0:54
fridge uh solution I made up y' can go
0:56
check that out um yeah I'm going pull
1:00
out behind there and get to the propane
1:02
wires so I can wire this up on its own
1:05
breaker and then I can wire lots of
1:06
things up because it's 20 amp dc and
1:10
these don't use 20 amp I think uh with 3
1:13
amps maybe yeah 3 amps so yeah nothing
1:18
so I'm going to get this installed but
1:20
uh you know power is an issue you know
1:23
go check out our I keep going back and
1:26
check out but our solar install where we
1:29
did the Bish panels great panels really
1:33
uh uh you know upped our game as far as
1:35
our power and not having to run the Jare
1:38
but we still you know we have that power
1:40
constraints because the sun's not always
1:43
shining uh we had three four days of
1:46
just nothing but clouds and I was
1:48
kicking on the generator a few times so
1:51
you check that out but we're going to
1:53
install this so what we got here is see
1:55
this fancy little thermostat gauge I
1:57
made for my freezer and fridge this is
2:00
my freezer temperature which
2:02
is8 right now cuz it's I ain't got it on
2:05
turbo mode if you go back and look at
2:07
that video I have a turbo mode on this
2:08
so I can hit turbo mode but it uses more
2:11
power and then my fridge so this is
2:14
spillover fan for our fridge and uh with
2:17
turbo mode on it's it's cool enough
2:19
right now it's you see it's off the
2:21
freezer is still on because it's got the
2:23
lights on but I'm going to take this out
2:31
[Music]
2:34
and this was the uh old uh propane
2:37
control we're all electric in this house
2:40
now so we don't use
2:41
propane but uh it worked really nice
2:44
it's all aluminum took a while to cut in
2:47
my gauges but works
2:51
right that was a long screw used a long
2:54
one for that
2:55
one okay let's pull this out
3:01
don't look at my messy wiring it is a
3:03
mess so I finally found the wires I'm
3:05
going to use these are my LP gas wires
3:08
which this boat is complete electric 13
3:11
volts that gives me the voltage I need
3:13
to power one of these and fact I could
3:16
power a lot of these but uh I'm trying
3:19
to get as much of the boat I can on DC
3:22
so I don't have to run that inverter and
3:23
suck up all that juice wasting you know
3:26
wasting a few amps
3:28
there okay I got my wires Ran So I ran
3:31
from here up here in this uh AC I'm not
3:35
going to drill it in yet I'm just W to
3:36
see how it works ran through this uh
3:39
vent here I think this is like a fake
3:42
vent cuz there's no I don't know what
3:46
the hell this is but it's got no vent uh
3:50
uh thing in there no clue up through
3:54
here and then down through that hole and
3:57
uh yeah now I just connect them together
4:00
and good to go all I got to do is do a
4:03
little stripping so on here I'm going
4:06
with a the car autum
4:09
of uh positive and
4:13
negative and this wire is not very high
4:15
gauge it doesn't have to
4:17
be okay and already have a connector on
4:21
this
4:23
one
4:25
so if you
4:28
uh also you need need to get you one of
4:30
these uh crimpers these work great so I
4:35
just pop in
4:37
here pop it the right way in here so
4:40
it's got beveled on one side crimp on
4:43
the
4:43
other and you pick your color we going
4:47
with uh blue here cuz that's the one I
4:51
originally had on
4:53
here this wire doesn't probably need
4:57
blue but
5:03
and there we go give it a good tug I was
5:06
going to use these pink ones on the
5:08
other side cuz this gauge of wire is
5:10
small now I have to take and disconnect
5:13
this one so I'm going have to cut this
5:15
off and uh I don't think I have to cut
5:18
it off I just have to pull it off on
5:19
that
5:21
side yeah I crimped
5:24
it or it was crimped but it wasn't crimp
5:27
good
5:30
there we
5:31
go trash over there oh this is still
5:35
working because that's running from my
5:36
power on my
5:38
uh
5:40
uh
5:43
compressor use the blue one here
5:47
again
5:53
so hold on somebody's out
5:57
there okay so I'm back I got all this
5:59
finished I'm going to heat shrink this
6:00
later I'm going to test it of course on
6:02
there before I lock it down but yeah
6:05
that was just some boers coming by and
6:07
announcing that we can go rob their boat
6:09
now but no they're to they're going to
6:12
be off their boat so y'all out there uh
6:15
looking to Rob sailboats or
6:18
motorboats Community watches each
6:21
other oh also I may have not mentioned
6:24
that three 3 amps or 3 amps that's fast
6:28
charging so now my tablets and all my
6:30
stuff is going to charge up fast pop it
6:35
in 55% fast charge 32 minutes till full
6:40
yeah baby so I'm going to get
6:44
uh some heat shrink
6:47
shrunk because uh I don't like wires
6:49
pulling
6:51
out and this is another reason why you
6:53
need lithium on your uh boat is cuz you
6:57
can power High out but things like heat
7:01
guns so let me heat gun this
7:10
up and that's
7:12
hot now let me put all this stuff back
7:15
together
7:16
again okay got this grill right
7:20
here got this is going to go up in
7:24
there so
7:32
[Music]
7:35
I wonder if this thing will go below
7:36
zero while I'm put this
7:38
together let's turn that to Turbo it's
7:42
at
7:43
three turn it back on there and we'll
7:47
put this back
7:49
in the vent to nothing
7:55
my there our beautiful vent of nowhere
8:01
and I think I'm going to leave these out
8:03
for right
8:05
now I may pull it
8:08
now so if you look here I've got it
8:10
mounted right there and I got the cover
8:13
on it looks looks nice it's out of the
8:15
way and I didn't put the little plastic
8:17
cover on it but now that I'm saving all
8:20
that power I can turn that fridge or
8:22
freezer on turbo look at that it's
8:24
already down to
8:26
1.9 so this will save me in uh of course
8:29
right the the Inver which uses about 3 3
8:31
and 1 12 amps and uh you know I can save
8:35
that in gas so that's a good thing cuz
8:37
our battery is at 72% and it
8:41
is about two 2:00 so we may make it up
8:45
to almost 80% today that'd be awesome
8:48
and uh cuz we started out at
8:51
50 55 so that's good
8:56
recovery okay guys here's just some of
8:58
the meat we're getting for the
9:00
Bahamas we got
9:03
chicken
9:05
steak ground
9:07
beef food in what's here got over here
9:13
got more meat and eggs over here and
9:15
there's veggies and some cheese and
9:19
butter and yeah we're
9:24
going I
9:26
B my babies say she's filled up the
9:29
freezer all the meat and everything is
9:31
done on yeah it's it's
9:35
full we learn not go through this in a
9:37
month half a month no so this is the day
9:41
before we leave for the
9:43
Bahamas and are we ready to go babe yeah
9:48
I've been asking for you to put up your
9:51
crap I'll put it up I'll put it up no it
9:55
doesn't go there no it doesn't go in
9:57
there I'll put it up it's been sitting
10:00
here for 2 weeks I'll put it up
10:03
baby but this is uh the last of the food
10:07
we have to get
10:08
up we've got uh $300 in meat in the
10:12
freezer and uh yeah we have to also set
10:18
up these uh life jacket thingies figure
10:20
out how they
10:24
work and my house is dirty and the house
10:27
is dirty she says it'll get clean in the
10:32
Bahamas okay before we leave for the
10:35
Bahamas which is here soon tomorrow
10:38
hopefully uh got top off our batteries
10:41
which got the J run and I'm also
10:43
checking our linkage for our steering
10:46
connection make sure all that's good and
10:48
I'll show you what I'm looking at so
10:50
right here here is our connection you
10:53
see it's right here here's the helm but
10:55
I just took the flo pan up and man it's
10:58
nasty in there so but I I'll clean that
11:01
up but yeah everything's working looks
11:04
good uh I'm glad it's a uh solid
11:08
connection like this versus a cable
11:10
that's awesome and there's our autopilot
11:13
right there so that's good and there's
11:17
the floor cover I took off right
11:20
there okay it's our last night in the
11:22
anchorages and wife got all the gear
11:25
cleaned up we're ready to go got safety
11:27
gear cleaned up and uh way you check
11:29
these if it's green you're good to go
11:32
that means uh you you can self-inflate
11:35
I'm not going to pull this thing oh gosh
11:37
don't do that yeah that would get th
11:40
than I am we have two brand new ones
11:42
that don't have the tanks in them
11:45
yet and we have these but we also have
11:48
uh proper um safety lines so these are
11:53
the ones you can pull quick release so
11:56
if you get uh overboard
12:00
and you're dragging underw you can
12:02
release yourself and then they of course
12:04
tie onto the boat but uh I'm not going
12:07
up there
12:08
no no but I'll show you what we got
12:12
upstairs and uh and then uh it's beer30
12:16
tomorrow we're leaving morning tomorrow
12:18
morning early early I don't like to get
12:21
up that road so y'all y'all stay with us
12:25
and you know we we we get to the Bahamas
12:29
so our dog she has her life jacket and
12:33
we have an extra uh one we could
12:35
actually tie her on the boat but right
12:38
here I have this line tied all the way
12:41
to the front and yes that is that is a
12:44
good knot I'll probably uh adjust it a
12:48
little bit but it is a good knot that's
12:49
a
12:51
a uh
12:55
bowling and of course I have my life
12:58
jacket and I'm strapped in strapped onto
13:01
this right now so this thing this is
13:03
slightly stretchy I just knocked off my
13:06
mic so it's slightly stretchy so you
13:10
know got some elastic so if I do fall
13:11
off it won't be a Sudden Impact but this
13:14
is what I'm talking about this right
13:15
here you can just pull that and it comes
13:17
off so yeah need
13:20
that and then my babe she cleaned up our
13:23
Windows there he they look all
13:25
seethrough now and uh she cleaned our
13:28
winches
13:30
we still have the hole in the roof got
13:32
to fix that
13:33
someday and then back here got my Deanie
13:37
tied and uh yeah we'll go back here
13:40
and move
13:43
this let me go out you can't move this
13:46
from side to side so we'll see how that
13:50
runs but uh if not I got enough line I
13:53
can tighten it up some more and then got
13:55
my my fenders in there in case I need to
13:57
use them in the Bahamas
13:59
okay guys so tomorrow me and my babe
14:03
babe down there looking for stuff to eat
14:06
we're going to figure out we're going to
14:09
figure out what we're going to eat in
14:10
the Bahamas tomorrow so what do you
14:14
think of that
14:15
[Music]
14:17
babe I haven't processed it yet I don't
14:21
know it to me it it just seems like you
14:25
know it's been a year
14:29
we were supposed to leave through the
14:32
Bahamas last year at this time I don't
14:34
know eight months ago yeah last year at
14:37
this time so so I don't even know how to
14:39
process this yeah I guess when we are
14:44
like crossing the waters and I see the
14:48
the waters changing colors I'm going
14:50
like oh okay yeah this is happening I'm
14:53
going s her up front with the camera so
14:55
she can record the wire changing colors
14:59
I'm not going up
15:00
front no I'm not falling off I tied a
15:04
line and everything guys she'd be safe
15:07
I'm going to be if I fall off you're I'm
15:09
going to be having to wait for you to
15:11
turn around the boat to come get me and
15:14
I might have been already flown I might
15:16
be like towards Florida already y you're
15:21
not going back to Florida we're going to
15:22
bahas we're doing the b b baham mamas
15:26
yes that's what we're doing so yeah it's
15:30
uh it's been a journey it has and uh and
15:35
a lot of money so if y'all think that
15:38
doesn't cost money to live on a
15:40
boat it does yeah get ready eventually
15:45
we'll um I'm slipping but eventually
15:47
we'll we'll we'll go over what this
15:50
actually takes to do this and it ain't
15:52
cheap guys so I don't but it depends on
15:57
what how you want to do it of course of
15:59
course we we've made our boat like off
16:02
grid yeah so that costs a lot of money
16:05
yeah wire maker solar batteries all that
16:08
stuff so we' made it off grid and if you
16:12
don't want to make your boat off grid
16:13
and you're like Marina people yeah it'd
16:15
be cheap which is fine we we've lived in
16:18
Marinas here and there maras are
16:21
nice um if you want to be off grid they
16:24
going to cost you going to cost but I'm
16:28
going to let her get back to dinner and
16:31
we're going to uh we grocery shopping I
16:34
got some lettuce we'll uh see you on the
16:38
water tomorrow
16:39
guys
16:42
yep guys I think I hurt my toe this
16:45
morning getting the anchor
16:50
up yeah I didn't know I was bleeding
16:52
that
16:55
bad wasn't supposed to be yeah two
16:59
months
17:01
bye Lake
17:03
Sylvia we stayed here for two weeks and
17:06
we wounded up staying for 2 months a
17:09
little longer than expected it was a
17:11
nice stay though yeah it was got a lot
17:13
of stuff done and we were pretty
17:15
protected we did get some pretty gnarly
17:18
winds a couple of times but um other
17:22
than that we were pretty protected so
17:24
yeah yeah we had a hard time getting our
17:26
anchor up it was so stuck oh yeah it was
17:28
stuck was Dug Dug deep now we're trying
17:31
to get through here this is all that
17:34
right there really shallow and you have
17:37
to come in close on this side you'll see
17:40
on the charts here to avoid all that
17:44
shallowness so yeah we're squeezing on
17:47
through here and we're going slow we're
17:49
doing 1.9 knots two knots just to so if
17:53
we do uh nudge something well we're at
17:55
low tide so the tide will only go up for
17:58
from
18:00
here 10 back behind me yes so we're 10t
18:04
deep back behind me that's Lake syia
18:08
entrance and that is where we're going
18:11
right there to
18:14
dannyland I didn't want to get up no she
18:16
didn't I still don't want to be up she
18:18
said the sun is not up I'm like it is
18:21
peeking it is peeking he's sathing no
18:24
sunrises at 7 but the sunlight happens
18:28
earlier plus the deck is all wet oh yeah
18:31
I slid bad messed up my foot oh it hurts
18:35
but we're getting through here don't get
18:37
yourself garine or anything yeah it
18:39
stopped bleeding so I'm good I need put
18:41
some peroxide on no yes okay we'll fix
18:45
that later once we get out of here okay
18:48
so we're going to m is and you need to
18:50
be rushed to an emergency
18:52
room we're going to uh put down the
18:55
camera so I can navigate these last uh
18:57
this last crooky area cuz they're
19:00
getting down to
19:01
8T and then we'll get out of
19:04
here okay guys we nudged ground there a
19:07
little bit but we are out so we're going
19:10
back up we're at 7.6 ft and getting
19:14
deeper and uh yeah we're just going to
19:17
start turning out into this canal but
19:20
yeah that was that was fun so we touch
19:23
bottom this is our fourth time to touch
19:24
Bottom
19:25
now yeah we need to get into some deeper
19:28
waters
19:29
a little shallow
19:33
here babe cleaned the window yesterday
19:36
now she's drying it
19:45
today yeah so we can see a little
19:51
bit and now she's getting the front we
19:53
don't have defrosters on the boat
20:02
I wonder if that uh what What's that
20:05
called the the stuff you spray down
20:08
the water beads
20:11
off rainex
20:14
rainex thank you very
20:16
much okay we're leaving out of here and
20:19
the current I wanted to get out of here
20:21
earlier I think 30 minutes would been
20:24
better but now we are we are just
20:27
crashing in these
20:29
waves
20:31
woo my wife is probably hating life
20:34
right
20:35
now our puppy is not liking
20:39
either don't don't it your
20:42
butt also I think we're going to have a
20:45
oil tanker come up behind us so we got
20:47
to get out of this Channel and we're
20:49
doing
20:51
about 5 and A2
20:55
knots let me show you up front again
20:58
eyes
20:59
the
21:01
plans sou the we just pass pretty rough
21:04
out here right now this is all caused by
21:07
these currents a um deceased manity
21:11
floating right behind a celebrity
21:16
Beyond okay we're almost
21:18
through this is I wouldn't even want to
21:22
be on haul out hul over what that uh
21:25
that feels like this feels pretty rough
21:28
out here
21:30
oh
21:32
wow we got some air
21:35
there currently uh 26° 5 minutes1 153 is
21:42
a tanker over there 06 over there we're
21:46
going to get out of here I'm moving past
21:48
it I got a haul out to catch but
21:51
it's 100 y out of that position see how
21:56
the water is
21:58
it's pretty rough they're tied on to
22:00
that that buoy right
22:02
there why I don't
22:07
know we're trying to get out of this I
22:09
mean it looks c yeah it's just not right
22:12
here
22:31
nobody said this
22:34
part how rough it is to get
22:39
out okay so the weather said it was
22:41
going to be one to twoot waves and
22:45
uh an Eastern uh basically an Eastern
22:49
Breeze the breeze is correct it's not
22:51
we're not
22:52
getting any kind of Breeze but we are
22:56
getting a a good bit of sweat my baby's
22:59
not liking
23:01
it so that it's going to make me hate
23:07
voting but
23:09
uh yeah uh right now we look to be
23:13
getting into 600 fo water and I'm hoping
23:17
cuz right now where it's a where kind of
23:20
shelves so I'm hoping it gets smoother
23:23
the deeper we
23:25
get at least not as uh more period
23:29
between these waves cuz they were
23:30
supposed to be you know 6 second period
23:34
1 to
23:36
2T and uh yeah it's
23:42
uh sliding
23:44
around I'm stopping okay guys so me and
23:48
my wife are just sitting here there's
23:49
baby right over there she's just sitting
23:51
there we uh you know Lessons Learned
23:54
From
23:55
Yesterday me I have to look at the wave
24:00
direction and the wind direction it's
24:03
very important that they're not going in
24:05
opposite
24:06
directions or that leads up to a very
24:09
confused
24:10
sea which scares my
24:14
baby and uh our
24:16
dog and uh bust my toes so don't need
24:22
that but uh yeah Lessons
24:26
Learned and uh today I'm just just well
24:29
I had to fix the dinghy cuz uh I left up
24:31
there and at C State over rocked it and
24:34
it uh kind
24:36
of it uh kind of the transm was trying
24:40
to come off so I had to reglue
24:42
that and uh I'll show you all that in
24:44
second and I had to replace duck valves
24:46
in a
24:47
toilet and uh the fan in the fridge one
24:50
of my fans stopped working so it was a
24:54
eventful day and uh now it's beer 30
24:57
right babe
24:59
no no not yet no it's got an hour till
25:02
be be 30 but uh let me show you this
25:05
ding okay Decker you may remember this
25:08
deck War Adventure he came out here this
25:11
was coming off so my transom was coming
25:14
off right there you can see I didn't
25:15
align it completely right but I glued it
25:19
and now I've got this uh tie
25:23
strap tensioning down on this to hold it
25:26
together and it's holding this which I
25:28
reglued and that together and I just
25:31
reinflated once I got the glue in and
25:34
then ratchet it down and we're good
25:37
hopefully we'll see how long that lasts
