Got Too Get Back On Anchor, But Our Son Stops By! | Ep 40 #svaguaazul #sailboat #boat
Nov 10, 2024
We must move our sailboat from the marina, but there's still much to be done. Our son visited and mom is ecstatic. Before skydiving from 18,000 feet, he wanted to climb the mast as a warmup, which concerned mom more than the skydive.

okay now that our seller's done I've got
0:03
some other projects to do on this boat
0:04
but first I'm going to have my coffee
0:07
then we'll get back out there and get to
0:09
it got to get out of this Marina I'm
0:12
going to put my rear light back on it
0:15
was all the way up there and I see the
0:17
reason they did that because the dingy
0:19
davits they uh didn't want the dingy
0:22
blocking the light but my cruise our
0:25
cruise down low keeps by S gravity keeps
0:27
the boat from rocking as much and and uh
0:30
it's also easier to get the Dy up and
0:32
down but I'm going to put this
0:35
back right here and uh it just bolts on
0:40
over here and it's once again factory
0:45
plus I get rid of all this AC wire that
0:47
they brought on here I've got a project
0:50
for that later on and I don't let things
0:52
go waste first thing I'm going to do is
0:54
just clip off my
0:55
wires I like to clip them close cuz I
0:58
don't like to waste any excess
1:00
wire that may be too close we'll see if
1:04
I can strip
1:08
that
1:10
and that there we
1:14
go okay I have a nice little LED light
1:19
and black up here white down
1:26
here top goes that way so
1:30
that would be my top will be pointing
1:32
towards the
1:34
black okay it looks like we'll just
1:36
barely have enough wire to reach inside
1:39
here once I put the terminals on I about
1:41
to strip this uh back a little bit and
1:44
of course get my connectors on there
1:46
okay have my two connectors on now I'm
1:48
going to heat shrink them remember Black
1:50
Goes uh up so got to get that in there
1:54
right got them heat shrunk through the
1:58
hole and let's install our
2:02
light okay
2:06
black okay black is going up white is
2:10
going down now let's see if it
2:17
works
2:18
yeah there we go now we just need to
2:21
throw in the cover B thing about working
2:24
out a boat is you never KN know what
2:26
you're going to lose to Davey's Locker
2:30
that Locker is right
2:32
there okay that is a job done and that
2:35
looks a lot better than that wire run
2:37
all the way around it was just zip tied
2:40
all the way up there around and it was
2:43
hanging up into the old solar
2:47
panels finish it off with a little black
2:50
conduit makes it look pretty good I
2:53
think or pretty bad whatever your
2:55
opinion
2:56
is and my baby is cleaning up the house
3:02
wow you made a mess
3:10
though I still have some M to clean
3:15
up
3:17
M that vacuum works pretty good
3:25
though okay so just defrosted the fridge
3:29
and this is one thing I love about my
3:31
panel I made or my modifications I made
3:34
to the electronic
3:36
thermostats and the two selections of uh
3:43
eco mode and super cold on our
3:45
freezer I can uh set in the center I can
3:49
set it to off and it makes defrosting
3:53
this
3:54
fridge so much easier so much and that
3:58
the extra fan that really helps so and
4:02
it's still pretty chilly in there but
4:05
look at this this is this is what we
4:07
pulled out of there that's a big old
4:09
pile of
4:10
ice yeah my babe is making us into the
4:14
barrel
4:17
dinner now it's basically they call it a
4:21
poor man's um steak Salsbury steak no
4:26
Corman steak okay and it's
4:30
with ground
4:31
beef
4:34
seasonings and then you uh kind of like
4:37
put some flour on the top of it or like
4:40
kind of put it in flour and you make it
4:42
them in patties and then you cook
4:45
them and I normally don't do this this
4:48
is this is bad mhm and then you put a
4:52
cream of mushroom gravy on top of
4:56
it and then you cook some rice
5:00
yum I we haven't gone to the grocery
5:03
store the only the only thing I have
5:05
right now is like cans and this is the
5:07
last of our meat literally the last one
5:09
me our son is coming to
5:13
visit we were going to go to the grocery
5:15
store today but it was raining all day
5:17
and we literally backpack it so he's
5:20
coming tomorrow and he has a car yep
5:23
well you saw earlier guess he's taking
5:25
us grocery
5:27
shopping tomorrow and car oh our son the
5:32
high class yeah haven't done that in a
5:35
while other than when we rented a car a
5:38
month
5:39
ago but you saw the freezer it was
5:43
pretty much empty I just the steak I
5:46
mean the the meat was already defrosting
5:49
so yeah
5:52
but and then this girl's got to get back
5:54
on a recipe game she cooks for me every
5:58
night
6:02
it's literally two
6:06
hurricanes my husband's had this house
6:09
entirely you
6:11
know messed up working on stuff when was
6:15
I supposed to have my
6:17
[Music]
6:22
videographer so it stopped my
6:26
stuff yep I did so yeah
6:31
yeah hold hold okay so we're on the
6:35
boat there's our
6:37
son and this is his uh first closeup
6:41
SpaceX launch
6:44
so listen in the
6:49
countdown just yell when you need to
6:52
stop oh okay
7:03
how you
7:06
doing just like about a
7:13
foot more little bit
7:19
more
7:23
good yeah these P are good there's no
7:26
rust or
7:27
nothing you want to go up high next
7:29
spreader
7:40
yeah you there
7:51
what got you you I can't hear you yuck
7:56
y oh you are
7:59
no
8:01
look how much how much further oh you
8:04
got a long
8:16
way oh this freaks me
8:19
out my son is up
8:22
here are you there how high do you want
8:26
me to go are you checking the next
8:28
spreader
8:31
uh come out and look I don't know where
8:32
I'm
8:33
at you're almost that's that's the
8:36
spreader check the connections there
8:39
what these things
8:43
yeah they look good
8:45
okay you want to go
8:50
higher you want to go
8:52
higher I mean there's a little bit of
8:54
surface rust if they're good
8:57
okay you ready to go up up oh I'm going
9:01
more yeah I don't think he wants to babe
9:06
what does he need to go up
9:10
for oh my
9:13
goodness no I don't like it bring my son
9:18
down how high are you
9:21
now you need to go higher huh good what
9:26
everything looks good okay you want to
9:28
come down
9:29
or you want to go all the way to the top
9:31
take a
9:33
picture you want to take wait you want
9:35
me to check that thing if you want
9:37
to no you don't have to just come back
9:41
down you want to go up or down oh we can
9:44
go up
9:46
okay everyone stop
9:53
baby
9:55
um right
9:58
there okay
10:02
how's it look up
10:04
[Music]
10:10
there I don't see any rust that's good
10:13
okay take your
10:15
picture
10:17
okay don't drop your phone working on
10:23
it you're you're about 49 ft in the air
10:32
take a few
10:37
[Music]
10:39
pictures what are you thinking baby I I
10:42
don't like it and I you want to go up
10:45
there I'm not going to like sending you
10:47
up there either I don't like it this is
10:49
too scary I don't like it all right it's
10:51
good ready you ready to come down
10:54
yeah okay it's going fast
10:59
ready yeah okay you're
11:02
going is that too fast no you're going
11:14
slow okay how are we
11:16
doing good
11:34
[Music]
11:43
tell me if I stop keep going okay
11:52
[Music]
11:59
oh hang on okay all right now
12:04
go CAU
12:09
[Music]
12:14
up oh thank God my son's safely down
12:18
safely
12:21
down okay we in get to see the SpaceX
12:24
launch but I launched him up the mast
12:29
you got a great view what did you think
12:32
up there oh man it looks pretty cool up
12:34
there
12:41
wi okay what are you
12:44
doing all right
12:47
guys found this uh starbrite pad with
12:50
this uh starbrite pole
12:52
online pretty good for getting under the
12:55
boat uh fresh bottom paint it's just
12:58
knocking off all the fuzz and stuff but
13:02
uh yeah I'm doing this and my baby is
13:05
out here finish up the stainless steel
13:09
and we're going to get this really
13:11
finishing it up what I'm going to be
13:13
spending months on this crap there so
13:15
much of
13:17
it yeah so this this very
13:21
handy and uh also you can put other
13:23
attachments on it to like push bows
13:26
[Music]
13:28
and rushes and things like that cuz it
13:30
just Clips on at the end so it's got
13:33
spring clips but yeah you got a boat and
13:37
you don't come out of the water much
13:38
this may be a great option for you okay
13:41
my bab is taking care of that stainless
13:46
steel this is a lot is starting to look
13:49
really
13:51
good but how many times you already
13:53
think I have to do
13:56
this probably more than we do it now
13:59
but yeah we're final push cuz we're
14:02
leaving the marina
14:03
soon no unlimited water and stuff like
14:08
that but uh yeah I got the Barnacles
14:12
there was a few little Barnacles on the
14:14
hall uh got them off and uh scraped all
14:19
the way down to the the kill with that
14:23
thing it was spans out to 10t Long
14:30
look at that look at that stainless
14:32
steel though it's looking
14:35
good and uh you'll see the bottom bar
14:38
here mhm that's what it looks like
14:41
before let me get something in the
14:43
sunlight it looks like
14:45
that so
14:49
yeah so our son came to visit he jumped
14:53
out of the airplane he went up the mass
14:56
and now he's going off to Daytona for
14:59
for more Adventure yeah yeah and Mom's
15:02
not happy about it
15:05
why have Adventures when you're young
15:07
yes of
15:08
course well we're tomorrow is our last
15:12
day here and uh yeah we're doing some
15:15
last night cleaning to get out of
15:17
here yeah he already
15:21
clean and I'm
15:24
dirty boat a few weeks it's dirty so
15:28
guys get cleaned up and then we'll get
15:30
out of here and then I got to check of
15:32
course anchor chain things like
15:34
that okay looking at our anchor chain
15:38
may have to cut a few links
15:40
off of course first I have to tie up
15:42
that uh our anchor there okay so I got
15:47
my anchor tied up back
15:50
here and uh I'm leaving this tight so I
15:54
can cut I think I'm going to cut right
15:57
about here I think the these links start
15:59
looking
16:01
better and I just
16:03
lose uh 6 in anchor
16:06
chain of course I'm going to wear some
16:09
kind of eye protection cuz uh yeah eyes
16:14
are probably critical for our adventures
16:18
I noticed after about 6 months some of
16:21
my anchor W uh my safety wire that I had
16:24
tied on here had uh one piece broke off
16:29
when I was untwisting it so you know
16:32
this is probably a every 6mon thing to
16:35
replace of course we are in very
16:37
brackish Waters okay so I have the
16:39
anchor chain cut it's still quite
16:42
warm that last link is kind of warm but
16:46
I'm going to go ahead and take this
16:49
off and do this is UN twist
16:53
this slids down your chain you're going
16:56
to put this of course on your new chain
16:59
and then there's a pin that goes through
17:01
right here and you just pull that pin
17:04
out it just slides either
17:06
way and uh good thing we're not
17:09
over
17:10
water you see I want to keep that chain
17:14
and that's what our chain looks like so
17:17
it's not too
17:20
bad but uh yeah I just want to be safe
17:24
and uh probably going to replace this
17:26
chain here soon
17:32
okay so to put this in I got the pin in
17:35
got the chain in and you just this just
17:39
twist
17:41
around and you tighten it until you can
17:43
get some safety wire through that little
17:46
hole right there and uh that seems to be
17:51
good okay and then I take and I tie I'm
17:55
using stainless steel ties and I tie
17:58
four strands these are separate strands
18:00
in case one breaks they will all break
18:04
and I'm using this stuff supposedly
18:08
military
18:09
grade uh we all know what that means
18:12
it's probably overpriced and the same
18:14
value as some other things but this is
18:16
what I got so now Anor is secure I'm
18:20
going to go put up my tools and I got to
18:23
start cleaning the deck my babe's back
18:25
there she's cleaning in there in the
18:27
cockpit so
18:29
getting this uh boat all ready to push
18:32
out on Thursday which is in a couple
18:35
days okay we got the front of the boat
18:38
looking
18:39
clean this will last for probably a
18:43
couple
18:44
hours and the back of the boat look at
18:47
that and win is still
18:49
shiny and all white and
18:53
pretty this will last
18:56
for as long as that thing uh allows it
19:01
to but she cleaned up front and uh I
19:06
cleaned uh I mean she cleaned back here
19:08
and I cleaned up
19:10
front yeah my back had
19:15
it okay so this is the day before we
19:18
leave and uh I got to get this boat Ray
19:21
I'm going to take off some of the lines
19:23
and uh I'm thinking I'm going to back
19:26
out and go that way cuz my prop BL is to
19:32
port and uh I have that which is really
19:37
close so that with the full length of my
19:40
boat out I'd be touching that and the
19:43
wind I believe it's going to be
19:46
coming uh on my port so that'll help
19:50
blow in my front or blow my front around
19:54
and then I'm going have a line over to
19:55
this uh Pier over here this T te head
20:00
and uh hopefully pull the uh ass in my
20:04
bow
20:06
around okay so we still have our double
20:08
lines on from the hurricane I'm going to
20:11
take off the double lines I'm going to
20:13
keep the lines there just wrapped around
20:15
so I can pull them off easy from the
20:17
helm on the the back here and we'll have
20:20
two lines on the front holding the boat
20:23
I have four right now and now I'm going
20:26
to take the spring lines on the front of
20:28
the boat off and uh just keep our back
20:32
rear spring
20:34
lines and cuz that will keep us from
20:36
hitting the dock because if you notice
20:38
the angle of these lines here we're a
20:40
little bit longer than the dock
20:42
is okay so I got my lines all uh sorted
20:47
out and I got that line I think I going
20:51
to take that spring line and retie it so
20:54
I can just pull it from
20:55
that uh pylon over there
20:59
and uh top off our water tanks we hold
21:02
150
21:05
gallons and yeah then we hopefully are
21:09
pretty ready for tomorrow it's supposed
21:11
to be 18 19 knots of wind so that'll be
21:16
fun but uh yeah hopefully I can just uh
21:20
take that spring line I have and PR over
21:23
there and they can you know if I need
21:25
help they can pull the back end around
21:27
which my
21:29
prop walk goes to Port so that should
21:31
help but uh yeah hopefully we get well I
21:35
know we'll get out here
21:36
okay okay we're back on anchor we backed
21:40
completely out of that slip I've got the
21:43
lines up I've got
21:46
uh uh the snowber
21:49
on and uh yeah now I have to just clean
21:53
up this mess I have in here look at
21:56
that yeah so I got all that to finish
22:01
and yeah we made
22:04
it my uh dumbass forgot to uh turn on
22:10
the uh open the seock for the engine
22:12
while we're coming out here so got the
22:14
engine a little warm hopefully I didn't
22:16
uh damage the uh impeller as soon as I
22:19
opened it up it cooled back
22:20
down but uh I didn't remind him she
22:23
didn't remind me that's my yeah I was
22:27
going to but the last time he said I
22:28
know so I thought I thought okay I'm not
22:31
going to say it this time cuz he
22:32
probably did but I didn't I didn't so
22:36
y'all stay tuned and uh we'll be coming
22:38
back uh next
22:40
week uh of course I'm going to check out
22:42
the engine make sure I didn't damage
22:44
that and uh which it's running fine and
22:48
uh we're going to go have a little
22:49
island time and we're back on anchor and
22:52
then we're going to head out of tville
22:54
and go somewhere else yep so y'all stay
22:58
tuned for that if you like our Channel
